Nolan Arenado left the Diamondbacks' 7-5 victory over the San Francisco Giants in the seventh inning due to groin tightness. The third baseman went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored before being replaced by Jose Fernandez to start the bottom of the seventh, leaving the game as a precautionary measure.

Manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Arenado is day to day, expecting him to be OK after the injury. Arenado felt his right groin tighten while running from first to home in the second inning, then worsened in the sixth after beating out a grounder. The 10-time Gold Glove winner won't undergo imaging on his injured area.

In his first season with Arizona, Arenado is hitting .271 with seven home runs and 27 RBIs. The eight-time All-Star was acquired from St. Louis along with $31 million in January for right-hander Jack Martinez. His potential absence could impact the Diamondbacks' playoff hopes as they try to build momentum in the NL West.
