The Dallas Cowboys waived running back Jaydon Blue on Sunday, moving the 2025 fifth-round pick down the depth chart. Blue entered camp as the No. 2 back behind Javonte Williams, but Malik Davis earned the role with a strong performance. The team also released Phil Mafah, leaving Israel Abanikanda as the third tailback.

Blue, who missed several days with a shoulder injury, totaled 23 carries for 94 yards and two receptions for 15 yards in the preseason. After a tough rookie season with 38 carries for 129 yards and a touchdown, coach Brian Schottenheimer praised his growth, yet the Cowboys decided he would not make the 53‑man roster. Meanwhile, Williams had a career‑year with 1,201 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, and Davis, who took over the No. 2 spot last season, posted 52 carries for 250 yards and two scores.

The Cowboys also traded offensive tackle Nate Thomas to Houston for a 2027 seventh‑round pick and released veteran edge rusher Sam Williams, clearing a roster spot for training camp addition Von Miller.
