Shortstop Corey Seager has been activated from the injured list by the Texas Rangers, ahead of their series with the Houston Astros. Seager, 32, had missed the last 23 games due to lower back inflammation. He recently completed a rehabilitation assignment, going 1-for-5 with a home run in two games for Double-A Frisco.

This season has seen Seager limited to 51 games. He previously spent time on the injured list for a concussion in June and dealt with back inflammation in May. He is currently batting .182 with 10 home runs and 25 RBIs for the Rangers.

The Rangers, currently in first place in the AL West and a half-game ahead of the Astros, also made several other roster moves. Right-handed pitcher Chase Silseth was added to the active roster following a trade, and righty Luis Curvelo was recalled. Infielder Josh Smith and righty Winston Santos were optioned, while left-hander Marco Gonzales was designated for assignment.
