The Milwaukee Brewers have activated infielder David Hamilton from the injured list after he recovered from a left hamstring strain. The team announced the move prior to their Friday game against the Colorado Rockies. Concurrently, they designated infielder Braden Shewmake for assignment.

Hamilton had been sidelined since exiting a July 6 game with hamstring tightness. The 28-year-old infielder is batting .240 with a .317 on-base percentage, three home runs, 15 RBIs, and 18 steals in 74 games for the Brewers this season. He has started games at third base, shortstop, and second base.

Shewmake, also 28, had appeared in four games for the Brewers, recording 2 hits, an RBI, and a stolen base. He was acquired by Milwaukee from the Houston Astros earlier in July. Shewmake had previously played 30 games for Houston, hitting .256 with three homers and nine RBIs.
