The Boston Red Sox have acquired third baseman Caleb Durbin from the Milwaukee Brewers in a three-player trade, sources confirmed to ESPN's Jeff Passan. The 25-year-old infielder hit .256 with 11 home runs, 53 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases during his rookie season with Milwaukee in 2025. Durbin fills a critical need at third base following Alex Bregman's departure in free agency.

In return, the Brewers receive left-hander Kyle Harrison, infielder David Hamilton, and left-hander Shane Drohan. Harrison, 24, posted a 4.04 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 35 ⅔ innings split between Boston and San Francisco last season. Hamilton, primarily a second baseman, struggled with the Red Sox, hitting just .198 with six homers and 19 RBIs in 91 games over his third season with the club.

The trade addresses Milwaukee's need to replenish its farm system while Boston secures immediate infield help. Prior to this acquisition, highly touted prospect Marcelo Mayer had been projected to start at third base, though injuries have hampered his development. Durbin's combination of power and speed makes him an intriguing addition to Boston's lineup as they reshape their roster for the upcoming season.
