Two of the Athletics' top prospects are sidelined indefinitely due to injuries. Infielder Leo De Vries, MLB.com's No. 2 prospect, will undergo surgery on his right shoulder on Monday in Arlington, Texas. The 19-year-old, acquired last season in the Mason Miller trade to San Diego, was hitting .290 with 13 home runs, 55 RBI and 34 stolen bases at Double-A Midland before the injury.

Pitcher Jamie Arnold, drafted 11th overall last year out of Florida State, suffered facial fractures after taking a line drive to his face at Triple-A Las Vegas. Arnold was promoted Sept. 1 and is 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA. His mother, Dawn, posted on social media that considering the ball was traveling 107mph, he is doing well, noting facial bone injuries and a corneal abrasion but that the outcome could have been worse.
