Veteran outfielder Andrew McCutchen, 39, joins the Texas Rangers' Opening Day roster after signing a minor league deal. The move guarantees him $1.25 million for being added to the 40-man roster. During spring training, McCutchen hit .444 (8-for-18) with three doubles, a home run, six walks, and five strikeouts in 20 games.

His right-handed bat will provide depth alongside starting outfielders Wyatt Langford and Evan Carter, while also serving as a natural complement to designated hitter Joc Pederson. McCutchen’s experience includes five All-Star appearances and a 2013 NL MVP Award during his nine-year tenure with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he was drafted in 2005.
