Olympic Hockey Stars Make SNL Appearance

U.S. Olympic gold medalists made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live, with women's hockey captain Hilary Knight delivering a pointed joke about their recent White House controversy. Knight, alongside teammates Megan Keller and the Hughes brothers (Jack and Quinn), joined Connor Storrie during his "Heated Rivalry" monologue, all wearing jerseys with gold medals draped around their necks to a loud ovation.

Knight's remark—"It was going to be just us, but we thought we'd invite the guys, too"—referenced President Trump's controversial call to the men's team after their overtime victory. Trump's comment about potentially being impeached if he didn't also invite the women had drawn criticism. The women's team, who also beat Canada in overtime, declined the invitation due to travel plans after flying commercially while the men traveled on an NHL charter.

The appearance came with Knight on long-term injured reserve and Keller rushing from a game in Ottawa to make the show. When Storrie asked to try on a medal, all four players replied in unison, "No." The cameo highlighted the ongoing dynamics between the Olympic champions while promoting "Heated Rivalry," HBO Max's hockey romance series that has quickly become a hit following its first season.
