The 2025 coaching carousel spun at an unprecedented rate, leaving new staff with little time to salvage recruiting classes before early signing periods. While the transfer portal offers quick fixes, sustainable success still hinges on high school talent pipelines. Here are the Power 4 coaches who navigated the toughest transitions most effectively.

James Franklin at Virginia Tech exemplified a rapid turnaround. Taking over in November, he transformed an unranked class into a top-25 group, largely by raiding his former employer, Penn State. Franklin flipped at least 10 Nittany Lions commits, including five SC Next 300 signings, while also securing key in-state victories.

Ryan Silverfield at Arkansas and Lane Kiffin at LSU also excelled. Silverfield, fresh from Memphis, focused on winning local battles, landing the state's top prospect within hours. Kiffin, meanwhile, inherited a talented Louisiana-heavy group and kept it remarkably stable, a rare feat amid coaching changes.

Jon Sumrall at Florida and Pete Golding at Ole Miss demonstrated stability. Sumrall retained a top-15 class built by Billy Napier, losing only one notable commit. Golding quickly installed himself as Kiffin's successor, keeping the bulk of a strong class intact despite losing a few to LSU.
