Mayweather-Zambidis Exhibition Fight Cancelled Amid Legal Battle

Floyd Mayweather's scheduled exhibition bout against Mike Zambidis in Athens, Greece has been cancelled following federal court proceedings. The six-round fight was set for Saturday evening before CSI, an events company, filed an emergency injunction petition alleging breach of contract against Mayweather.

Attorney Melissa Glass confirmed the cancellation in court filings, stating that CSI's legal action and threats in both U.S. and Greek jurisdictions effectively halted promotion efforts and stopped ticket sales through Ticketmaster. District Judge Vernon S. Broderick delayed ruling on the temporary restraining order, questioning what immediate irreparable harm would occur without the fight proceeding.

Promoter Keane Anis of Front Row disclosed approximately $7 million was spent or committed to the event, with $3 million already paid to Mayweather plus travel expenses. The cancellation has caused substantial commercial and reputational damage to multiple parties involved.

Mayweather's manager Walter Jordan claimed the fighter invested $250,000 in training camp expenses that won't be recovered. The potential $10 million payday for Mayweather from this exhibition fight now hangs in limbo pending the court's preliminary injunction decision, which could come as early as next week.
