Hendrix Hart, son of comedian Kevin Hart, has committed to run track for the Tennessee Volunteers. The Sierra Canyon senior announced his decision on social media, drawing congratulations from celebrities including LeBron James and former Tennessee sprint stars Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman.

Tennessee coach Duane Ross said the program recruited Hendrix for his character and talent, not his famous father. Ross described him as "a humble young man" who wants to earn his place on the team. "The first thing I told him was 'Hey, you come here, you're gonna have to earn it,' and he said 'Coach, I want to earn it.'"

Hendrix posted personal bests of 10.68 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 21.35 seconds in the 200-meter during the 2025 outdoor season. Ross said he bonded with the Hart family over shared values of hard work and independence, noting that Kevin Hart wants his son to make his own way in athletics.
