World No. 1 Jannik Sinner announced on Sunday that he will not play in the Cincinnati Open due to a bothersome right knee injury. After consulting with his doctors and medical team, Sinner stated he is not yet ready to compete in the Masters 1000 tournament, despite his previous success at the event in 2024.

Sinner, who recently secured his fifth Grand Slam crown at Wimbledon, also withdrew from last week's Masters 1000 in Toronto. He is now shifting his focus toward recovery and preparation for the upcoming US Open, which begins on Aug. 30.

The tournament will also be without No. 2 ranked Carlos Alcaraz, who is absent while recovering from a lingering wrist injury. Alcaraz previously took the title from Sinner in last year's final, setting the stage for a high-stakes rematch once both players are healthy.
