Five-star running back David Gabriel Georges committed to Tennessee on Wednesday, choosing the Volunteers over Ohio State in a significant recruiting victory for coach Josh Heupel. Gabriel Georges is ESPN's No. 2 running back and the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2027 SC Next 300.

Originally from Quebec, Gabriel Georges has amassed 2,852 rushing yards and 41 touchdowns in two varsity seasons at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His decision comes after official visits to both Tennessee and Ohio State this spring, concluding a hard-fought recruitment battle that involved Tennessee running backs coach De'Rail Sims. Ole Miss and Georgia were also contenders.

Gabriel Georges' commitment adds an elite running back to Tennessee's 2027 class, which already includes five SC Next 300 pledges. If he signs, he would be the program's highest-ranked running back since Bryce Brown in 2009. The commitment is a notable setback for Ohio State coach Ryan Day, whose staff had aggressively pursued the running back.
