Longtime college basketball announcer Dick Vitale, 87, is reportedly making positive strides after his fifth cancer diagnosis, announced in April. Vitale shared on social media Wednesday that recent blood tests returned "very good" results, indicating his immunotherapy treatments are "very effective in wiping out the cancer."

Vitale's cancer journey began in 2021 with melanoma. He subsequently faced lymphoma, and in 2023, was diagnosed with vocal cord cancer. The following year brought a diagnosis of lymph node cancer, for which he underwent surgery. In 2022, the ESPN mainstay received the Jimmy V Award for perseverance, named after his late friend, college basketball coach Jim Valvano.

Vitale has been a dedicated fundraiser for The V Foundation for Cancer Research. He made limited appearances on ESPN last season and has not yet announced his plans for the upcoming season.
