NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin revealed he re-injured his shoulder while searching the wreckage of a fire that claimed his father's life. He aggravated a previously torn labrum, which he had surgically repaired during the 2023-24 offseason. Hamlin stated he won't undergo surgery before the season, impacting his performance as he aims to compete in the 2026 season.

The incident occurred at his mother's home, where a December fire critically injured her and killed his father, Dennis Hamlin. The elder Hamlin passed away from injuries sustained in the fire. Mary Lou Hamlin, Denny's mother, is recovering and recently traveled to Florida to be with family. Hamlin, 45, was last season's Cup runner-up.

This injury adds another challenge for Hamlin as he prepares for the upcoming season, including The Clash and the Daytona 500. He'll compete with the existing injury. Hamlin was also involved in the antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR that concluded last year. The focus now shifts to how this impacts his performance and title aspirations this year.
