Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark earned her seventh technical foul of the season during Wednesday's 123-88 win over the Connecticut Sun, leaving her one away from an automatic one-game suspension. Her seven technicals tie Angel Reese for the WNBA lead, and her 15 career technicals rank second most in a player's first three seasons, behind Reese's 19, per Elias Sports Bureau.

The incident occurred late in the third quarter with the Fever leading 95-67. After drawing a foul on Olivia Nelson-Ododa, Clark tossed the ball to an official while Sun guard Saniya Rivers gestured toward her. "She said she was locking me up, so I said, 'Scoreboard,' and the ref didn't like that," said Clark, who finished with 27 points and 11 assists in 27 minutes. Both players received technicals.

Clark said the looming suspension won't "hinder" her playing style: "I'm never going to back down... I don't think I'm going to be playing with that in the back of my head." Coach Stephanie White dismissed concerns about strategic caution: "Anybody who thinks that I have a plan to be strategic about technical fouls is crazy."

The 17-10 Fever, fifth in the standings, begin a three-game trip at Seattle on Tuesday.
