Cincinnati has fired men's basketball coach Wes Miller after five seasons without a single NCAA tournament appearance, sources told ESPN. The Bearcats ended the 2024-25 season with an 18-15 record and blew a late lead in a must-win Big 12 tournament game against UCF, losing 66-65 in overtime.

Miller was hired in 2021 after a successful run at UNC Greensboro, where he won at least 21 games in each of his final five seasons. His tenure at Cincinnati included an 18-15 first season, a contract extension after 20 months, and subsequent records of 23-13 and 22-15. Despite high preseason expectations, including a No. 20 AP poll ranking last season, the Bearcats went just 7-13 in Big 12 play.

Miller still has three years remaining on his contract, which includes a $9.9 million buyout if terminated before March 31, 2026, and $4.69 million if fired on or after April 1. The decision comes after Miller's teams consistently fell short of the NCAA tournament, including a disappointing finish this season that saw Cincinnati on the wrong side of the bubble despite a late-season surge.
