Boston College has hired UConn assistant Luke Murray as its new men's basketball head coach, the school announced Thursday. Murray, son of actor Bill Murray, played a key role in building back-to-back national championship teams in Storrs and is credited as an architect of UConn's title-winning offensive system.

Murray has been on Dan Hurley's staff since 2021, helping transform UConn's offense from rankings of 64th and 85th in adjusted offensive efficiency to never finishing below 30th since his arrival. The Huskies ranked first and third in the championship seasons of 2023 and 2024. Before UConn, Murray worked under Chris Mack at Louisville and Xavier, reaching five NCAA tournaments including an Elite Eight run in 2017.

Athletic director Blake James praised Murray as someone who "has helped define" the modern college basketball landscape. Murray will remain with UConn through their Sweet 16 matchup against Michigan State before taking over at Boston College, where he inherits a program with a prestigious academic reputation and storied basketball tradition.
