A.J. Williams, the No.1-ranked player in the class of 2028, plans to reclassify into the 2027 class, he told ESPN on Tuesday. After moving up to 17U this summer, the 6-foot-7 shooting guard from Eagles Landing Christian Academy felt ready to accelerate the process. He was the only player at Peach Jam to average 20 points and eight rebounds while shooting 80% from the free throw line.

Williams' dominant summer performances, including a gold medal with Team USA at the FIBA Ameri Cup, solidified his status as a top prospect. Now, he will be eligible for the 2028 NBA draft and is projected as a lottery pick. He is currently considering nine schools, including Duke and North Carolina, and plans to set up official visits this fall.

With Williams moving up, the door is open for a new No. 1 in the 2028 class. Yann Kamagate, previously ranked No. 2, is expected to take Williams' place. The 7-1 center out of Saint Francis possesses a blend of elite athleticism and true center size.
