The Atlantic 10 Conference has fined and reprimanded both VCU and Saint Louis following a bench-clearing brawl that marred the Billikens' 88-75 victory Friday night. The league announced Saturday that while no players will be suspended, both programs violated sportsmanship policies in the A-10 Code of Conduct. The incident occurred with seconds remaining when Saint Louis guard Quentin Jones attempted to dribble out the clock before bumping an opposing player.

VCU's Nyk Lewis stole the ball, triggering a chaotic sequence where Robbie Avila bumped Lewis out of bounds, leading to pushing and shoving between both teams. Every VCU bench player was ejected along with most of Saint Louis' bench, leaving the Rams with just four players to finish the game. The officials reviewed the incident on monitors while players continued to exchange words. Avila received a foul, while Barry Evans and Jones were both ejected for flagrant 2 fouls.

Despite the wild ending, Saint Louis' comeback stole the spotlight - the Billikens trailed 45-35 with 18:42 remaining before launching a 53-30 run to secure the win. The victory extends Saint Louis' lead in the Atlantic 10 championship race over second-place VCU. Avila, who scored 13 points, told reporters afterward that emotions simply got the best of both teams during the intense rivalry matchup.
