The Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints were each fined $500,000 for multiple fights that erupted during their joint practice on Tuesday. The NFL's Competition Committee emphasized sportsmanship as a point of focus, with a memo sent to all teams reminding them of their responsibility to prevent unsportsmanlike behavior.

Fights broke out on both practice fields after the teams split for offensive and defensive drills. Punches were thrown, players rushed to join skirmishes, and one player was body-slammed. A helmet was also tossed during the chaos.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer and Saints coach Kellen Moore briefly discussed ending practice early but decided to finish on time. Schottenheimer confirmed the NFL requested practice footage for review.

While the team fines are appealable, it remains unclear if either side will pursue that option. Katherine Terrell reported that player-specific fighting fines would likely be handled internally by the respective teams.
