A joint practice between the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints in Oxnard, California, devolved into multiple brawls on Tuesday, with punches thrown and helmets tossed throughout the session.

One of the most notable scuffles occurred when Cowboys cornerback Caelen Carson punched Saints tight end Brock Rechsteiner, who then body-slammed his opponent to the ground. Additional fights involved players like Cowboys outside linebacker Donovan Ezeiruaku, who was ejected from practice for the second time this offseason after throwing a punch. Saints center Erik McCoy also tossed his helmet during one of the altercations.

Both coaching staffs considered cancelling the practice due to the escalating tensions. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer acknowledged the lack of discipline, stating they had agreed to end the session if things got out of hand. However, the teams managed to settle down and complete portions of practice including 11-on-11 drills and red zone work.

Players from both sides described the atmosphere as highly competitive but chippy. Saints quarterback Tyler Shough noted the intensity was expected, while Cowboys safety Jalen Thompson emphasized the competitiveness inherent in the sport. The teams are scheduled to face each other in the preseason finale on August 28.
