Apple is reportedly developing a smart home camera that will not record video footage. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the device will use AI to analyze activity in your home without filming it. The camera is expected to be a companion to Apple's upcoming smart home display, internally known as J490.

These small, cylindrical cameras will have a very low frame rate and will not offer video recording. Instead, the sensor will use AI to analyze movement and can perform facial recognition. If the camera identifies someone, it can notify you with text descriptions of whether you know the person.

This approach addresses growing concerns about over-surveillance and data privacy. The camera will use similar technology to the camera-equipped AirPods that were leaked earlier, which also won't take pictures or record video.
