Two Google alumni, Bonita Stewart and Jackson Georges Jr., have closed an $11.3 million fund through BAG Ventures to back early-stage AI startups that deliver measurable enterprise value. The firm, formed after two years of incremental investing, has already supported 10 companies including SXD, Biz Trip, and Nomadic, focusing on AI infrastructure, security, governance, and vertical SaaS. Check sizes range from $100,000 to $500,000, with plans to deploy the remainder over the next two years.
Stewart spent 17 years at Google, including nearly a decade as a vice president and a board member of Gradient Ventures. Georges worked at GE Healthcare and Google before becoming a partner at Capital G, Alphabet’s growth fund. The pair co-led the BAG Collective angel syndicate with over 450 members and were in the first cohort of the Black Venture Institute at Berkeley.
BAG Ventures’ limited partners include Google, Nvidia, Amazon, and Snowflake, totaling over 150 across various companies. Georges argues the enterprise AI ‘experimental sandbox’ phase is ending, with buyers now prioritizing deterministic solutions that integrate into legacy workflows and execute tangible work—such as automating code reviews or parsing legal documents—over open-ended chatbots. The fund seeks startups with core technical teams, MVPs, at least one partner, and a clear path to monetization within 24 hours, emphasizing proprietary data capture and deep workflow integration to avoid being overtaken by frontier AI labs.
