Gumloop Raises $50M to Democratize AI Agent Building

Gumloop has secured $50 million in Series B funding led by Benchmark to empower non-technical employees to build AI agents without engineering help. The platform, used by companies like Shopify, Ramp, and Instacart, enables workers to automate complex, multi-step tasks through an intuitive interface. CEO Max Brodeur-Urbas says the goal is to make organizations "AI native" by letting employees create and share agents across teams.

Benchmark general partner Everett Randle, who joined from Kleiner Perkins, sees enormous potential in democratizing AI automation. During due diligence, he discovered customers organically chose Gumloop over competitors after giving employees free access to multiple tools. Six months later, workers used Gumloop daily while alternatives remained untouched. The platform's minimal learning curve and model-agnostic approach allow companies to leverage existing OpenAI, Gemini, and Anthropic credits while choosing the best model for each task.

Despite competition from Zapier, n8n, and even foundational AI labs like Anthropic, Randle believes Gumloop stands apart. The company wasn't actively fundraising but decided to "step on the gas" given surging enterprise demand. Brodeur-Urbas plans to scale engineering and build a dedicated sales force, shifting from his original vision of a lean, 10-person operation. With enterprise automation representing "the biggest category in enterprise AI," Randle sees Gumloop's timing as ideal.
