New Mountain Capital has acquired a majority stake in RRC Companies, the Round Rock, Texas-based engineering firm specializing in utility-scale renewable power generation and battery storage systems. The private equity transaction marks New Mountain's continued push into sustainable infrastructure assets, though financial terms were not disclosed.

Bill Bong continues as co-founder and CEO of the company he helped launch in 2007. The engineering services provider has carved out a niche in the growing renewable energy sector, offering technical expertise for large-scale solar and wind projects alongside energy storage solutions.

As part of the deal, Dr. Hisham Mahmoud joins as chairman of the board, bringing additional governance experience to the firm. His appointment signals New Mountain's intent to strengthen leadership as the company scales its renewable energy footprint.

The investment reflects private equity's ongoing appetite for clean energy infrastructure companies, particularly those with specialized engineering capabilities. For RRC, the capital infusion positions the firm to pursue larger projects in an accelerating renewable energy market.
