Audax Private Equity has agreed to sell GCG, a Chicago-based specialty wire and cable provider, to Rexel for undisclosed terms. The deal is expected to close by year end. GCG's 2026 revenue is on pace to exceed $1.1 billion, with approximately 950 employees across 16 global locations.

Audax carved GCG out of Genuine Parts’ Electrical Specialties Group in 2019 and oversaw 12 acquisitions during its ownership. The sale marks the seventh realization for Audax’s Flagship strategy in 2026. Rexel, a publicly held distributor of energy management products, reported sales of €19.4 billion in 2025.

Financial advisers included Solomon Partners and JP Morgan for GCG and Audax, while Guggenheim Securities and Rothschild & Co advised Rexel.
