Excelsior Energy Capital-backed Lydian Energy has acquired Hanwha Renewables' Bess Atlas North portfolio, one of the largest solar plus energy storage project portfolios in North America. The Washington, DC-based power producer specializes in developing, constructing and operating utility-scale power infrastructure across key markets.

The portfolio consists of four late-stage development projects, including a 500 kV generation-tie transmission line spanning up to two miles. Hanwha Renewables is a US-based utility-scale energy developer advancing solar and battery energy storage projects across key markets.

The acquisition signals continued consolidation in the renewable energy sector as developers race to secure late-stage assets with grid interconnection infrastructure already in place. This deal positions Lydian to capitalize on growing demand for integrated solar and storage solutions in North America.
