Healthpoint Capital, a private equity firm focused exclusively on musculoskeletal healthcare, has made a significant investment in Ospitek, a San Diego-based provider of surgical operations software. No financial terms were disclosed. Ospitek’s platform uses artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, automation and analytics to synchronize surgical teams, automate communication and generate real-time operational data across the surgical episode of care. Healthcare facilities use it to identify inefficiencies, benchmark performance and improve patient throughput and operating room performance. Healthpoint Capital will back continued investment in Ospitek’s technology platform, commercial organization, customer success capabilities and product development. The company is targeting demand for workflow automation and operational intelligence across ambulatory surgery centers, specialty hospitals and wider healthcare settings.
"Hospitals and surgery centers are laser-focused on driving efficiency while improving patient, surgeon and staff satisfaction," said Mike Mogul, managing partner of Healthpoint Capital. "Ospitek gives all of those stakeholders a transparent and informative view of the surgical journey while enabling significant improvements in care delivery capacity for the facility."
The deal pairs with Healthpoint Capital’s investment in Steri CUBE, a system for surgical equipment flow, as part of the firm’s focus on platforms that help healthcare facilities, particularly ambulatory surgical centers, scale. Healthpoint Capital’s past exits include the sales of Cross Roads Extremity Systems to Johnson & Johnson’s De Puy Synthes, Ortho Space to Stryker, Blue Belt Technologies to Smith+Nephew and Bio Horizons to Henry Schein. Mc Dermott Will & Schulte provided legal counsel to Healthpoint Capital on the investment.
