Ambienta, the private‑equity sponsor that has run French environmental‑services firm Cap Vert since 2021, announced the sale of its majority stake to Brussels‑listed investor Gimv. The deal ends Ambienta’s four‑year stewardship that lifted Cap Vert’s revenue and EBITDA threefold through organic growth and 18 bolt‑on acquisitions.

During Ambienta’s ownership, Cap Vert expanded its portfolio across urban pruning, green‑space upkeep, irrigation and infrastructure trimming, sectors that benefit from European municipalities’ push for greener public spaces. CEO Eric Girot retained a sizable share alongside the management team, signalling confidence in the company’s post‑sale trajectory and preserving continuity for clients and employees.

Gimv’s acquisition adds a proven environmental‑services platform to its mid‑cap portfolio, enhancing exposure to the growing demand for sustainable municipal contracts across France. With Ambienta’s management staying on board, the transition is unlikely to disrupt service delivery, allowing the business to capitalize on its recent scale‑up while delivering returns to Gimv’s public shareholders.

The transaction underscores the appetite of European private‑equity houses for fragmented service providers that can be rolled up into larger, ESG‑aligned platforms. Investors will watch how Gimv leverages Cap Vert’s expanded footprint to win additional municipal contracts, a move that could set a benchmark for further consolidation in the continent’s green‑infrastructure sector.
