Akron‑based Ezurio, a wireless connectivity and embedded compute provider, announced the acquisition of Gateworks Corporation, a San Luis Obispo designer of rugged single‑board computers. The deal adds a portfolio of industrial‑grade hardware to Ezurio’s existing solutions, broadening its reach into remote and regulated markets where durability is paramount.

Audax Private Equity, which bought Ezurio in January 2022, backs the transaction. Gateworks, founded by Gordon Edmonds, supplies boards used in telecommunications, defense and IoT deployments. Integrating Gateworks’ engineering expertise gives Ezurio a foothold in sectors that demand hardened computing platforms.

The merger creates a combined entity capable of offering end‑to‑end connectivity and compute packages, potentially streamlining procurement for enterprise customers. By uniting Ezurio’s wireless modules with Gateworks’ rugged boards, the firm positions itself to capture larger contracts in infrastructure projects where both connectivity and resilience are essential.
