Aurelius has agreed to acquire Nokia’s Enterprise Campus Edge (ECE) business, a global provider of private wireless solutions. The deal, to be completed through Aurelius Opportunities Fund V, is expected to close in the first half of 2027. ECE generates annual sales exceeding €170m and employs around 1,000 people across Finland, Hungary, India, and the US.

Its nearly 900 customers include operators of mines, ports, airports, factories, and power plants — many of which are Fortune 500 companies. Beyond private wireless, the unit offers industrial devices, edge computing for operational technology, and software for industrial AI applications. Processing data on-premises enhances data security and sovereignty for clients.

The acquisition aligns with Aurelius’s strategy of buying non-core divisions from large corporates and scaling them independently. Fabian Steger, managing director at Aurelius Funds IV and V, stated: “We see significant opportunities for ECE to build on its leading position in private 5G and industrial edge as a standalone business, expand its portfolio into emerging areas such as AI-powered industrial automation, and help customers accelerate the digitalisation and automation of their operations.” The separation will be complex, involving cross-continental operations and employee transfers under local employment rules. Regulatory approvals and consultations with employee representatives are required.

Aurelius and Nokia are collaborating to ensure uninterrupted service during the transition. Andrzej Cebrat, managing director at Aurelius Funds IV and V, noted: “We aim to complete around six investments a year, and this planned transaction puts us well on track to achieve this target for 2026.”.
