efex, a Sydney-based managed IT services provider, has acquired Priority 1 IT, a Toowoomba firm specializing in support for medical centers and businesses. The deal, backed by private equity firm Advent Partners which took a majority stake in efex earlier this year, immediately broadens efex's geographic footprint and technical capabilities in the healthcare sector.

Priority 1 IT serves over 600 companies across Queensland's Darling Downs region, giving efex a established platform in regional Australia. This consolidation plays into a broader trend of private equity-backed IT service providers aggregating smaller, locally focused firms to build national scale and specialized vertical expertise, particularly in regulated industries like healthcare.

The acquisition directly enhances efex's ability to deliver complex technological support to a critical client base. By integrating Priority 1's local delivery model and healthcare client roster, efex can offer a more comprehensive suite of services under the financial and strategic backing of Advent Partners, strengthening its competitive position in the Australian market.
