Charlesbank Capital Partners has made an undisclosed investment in WSHB Support Services, a newly formed management services organization for law firm Wood Smith Henning & Berman. The investment will fund AI and data science capabilities, expand the firm’s geographic reach, and deepen practice area capabilities. WSHB remains an independent law firm with over 550 attorneys across 43 offices in 23 states.

Daniel Berman, co-founder and executive chairman, will lead the MSO as CEO, while Stewart Reid remains firmwide managing partner. The management committee, including Berman, Reid, Stephen Henning, and Kevin Smith, will continue to lead the firm and join the MSO’s board. Charlesbank, a middle-market private investment firm with $24 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026, has long invested in professional and insurance services.

Riverbrook Capital served as financial adviser to WSHB, with Gipson Hoffman & Pancione and Troutman Pepper Locke as legal advisers. Piper Sandler was exclusive financial adviser to Charlesbank, and Weil, Gotshal & Manges, Kirkland & Ellis, and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein + Selz were its legal advisers.
