Solugen, a Quebec-based sustainable agriculture provider, has secured C$50 million in growth equity funding led by Idealist Capital with participation from Canada Growth Fund. Founded in 2017 by CEO André Beaulieu-Blanchette, the company produces Azogen, a liquid fertilizer derived from hog manure that helps farmers increase yields while reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional fertilizers.

The investment will enable Solugen to expand capacity at its existing plant in St-Patrice-de-Beaurivage, Quebec, and construct a second facility in the province. The company plans to grow its team as part of its North American expansion strategy. François Boudreault, partner at Idealist Capital, emphasized the technology's reliability and its potential for meaningful impact in the agriculture sector.

Canada Growth Fund, which contributed to the round, is a C$15 billion public investment fund managed by PSP Investments designed to attract private capital to Canada's clean economy. The funding represents significant support for agricultural innovation that addresses both environmental concerns and farm productivity needs, highlighting growing investor interest in sustainable agricultural solutions.
