Ara Partners has acquired a majority interest in Pacific Ag, a crop residue supply and logistics company that describes itself as North America's largest, for undisclosed terms. The deal was made through Ara Infrastructure, the firm's infrastructure investment arm, and builds on its waste-to-value strategy.

US farms produce hundreds of millions of tons of crop residue each year, such as the corn stover and wheat straw left after grain harvests. Dealing with that residue costs growers money in tilling, removal and nutrient management. Pacific Ag removes the excess residue and turns it into feedstock for dairies and animal protein producers, and into a growing medium for mushroom farmers.

The company uses its own staff, harvesting fleet and logistics network to collect residue directly from fields, so farmers don't need to buy extra equipment or hire more labor. Pacific Ag is headquartered in the Columbia River Basin in the Pacific Northwest and, together with its affiliate Reinert Hay Company, serves farmers and customers in more than 30 states.

George Yong, partner and co-head of Ara Infrastructure, said the investment is a clear expression of the firm's waste-to-value focus, turning residue into a productive resource. He added that the firm is backing a business that puts income in growers' hands and strengthens the domestic agricultural supply chain. Ara, founded in 2017, had about $10.6 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2026.
