Blackstone Energy Transition Partners has agreed to acquire Dark Vision Technologies from Koch Engineered Solutions (KES). Dark Vision specializes in ultrasound imaging technology for inspecting critical industrial infrastructure, converting ultrasound data into 3D visuals to help identify damage in assets like gas pipelines.

"Dark Vision’s asset integrity services play a vital role in helping customers meet increasing environmental and safety standards, while improving efficiency and utilization of aging existing critical energy infrastructure," said David Foley, global head of Blackstone’s energy group. Darius Sepassi, senior managing director in Blackstone’s energy group, added that Dark Vision’s solutions reduce the potential for fugitive hydrocarbon emissions and spills by identifying corrosion and cracks, while bolstering preventative maintenance.

Blackstone anticipates growth for Dark Vision through pipeline integrity services and by expanding its inspection and analytics solutions into broader industrial applications such as civil infrastructure, aerospace and defense, and general manufacturing. The deal is expected to close later in the year, with Stifel and Guggenheim advising Blackstone, and Evercore advising Dark Vision.
