Ambienta, a European asset manager focused on environmental sustainability, has acquired Madefrigor and its subsidiary Tecnica del Freddo through its platform company Frigoveneta, an investment of Ambienta IV. The deal is the platform's fifth add-on acquisition in 18 months, adding two Italian specialists in industrial refrigeration systems and air handling units.

Founded in 1975 and headquartered in Rovello Porro, Como, Madefrigor designs, assembles and installs tailor-made industrial refrigeration systems. It acquired Parma-based Tecnica del Freddo, which has more than 70 years of experience, in May 2025. Francesco Bosa, managing director and sole shareholder of Madefrigor, will remain at the helm and reinvest alongside Ambienta.

The acquisition strengthens the platform's position in dairy and cured meats and adds international reach in Argentina and Australia. Alongside the acquisition, the platform is rebranding from Frigoveneta to Glacialis, uniting all group companies under one name. The European commercial and industrial refrigeration market is valued at about €12 billion.

Massimiliano Lecchi, private equity partner at Ambienta, said the transaction brings valuable natural refrigerant know-how and new avenues for international growth, marking the natural next step from successful acquisitions to one unified group.
