Science Corp., a biotech startup developing brain-computer interface technologies, has secured $230 million in Series C funding, bringing its total capital raised to $489 million since its 2021 founding. The Alameda, California-based company announced Thursday that investors including Lightspeed Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, and Y Combinator participated in the syndicated round. The latest financing follows a $104 million convertible note led by Khosla last April.

Founded by Neuralink co-founder Max Hodak and former Neuralink executive Alan Mardinly, Science Corp. is developing both brain-implant and retina implant systems to treat eye diseases. The company recently acquired MEMS facility assets in North Carolina, enabling in-house manufacturing of chips and microelectromechanical systems for neural interface devices. This vertical integration approach differentiates Science Corp. from competitors who typically outsource manufacturing, potentially reducing costs and accelerating development cycles.

Science Corp. plans to use the funding to accelerate commercialization of its PRIMA BCI retinal implant and expand clinical trials to include Stargardt disease and retinitis pigmentosa. The investment comes amid a surge in neural interface funding, with competitors like Neuralink raising $650 million last June and China's Stairway Medical securing $48 million in February 2025.
