MAVI, an AI-powered talent marketplace founded in 2023 by Molly Liu and Aman Puri, has emerged from stealth to address the U.S. accounting shortage by connecting American companies with global AI-proficient financial talent. The platform enables U.S. firms to onboard top-tier international accountants within days, handling cross-border contracts, legal compliance, and payroll. Liu, a former employee of Ramp, Lyft, and Dropbox, noted that the accounting profession is shrinking while AI adoption increases pressure on senior roles. She emphasized that while AI automates entry-level tasks, experienced professionals are still needed for judgment-based decisions. MAVI focuses on mid-level and senior placements, targeting companies seeking full-time, long-term finance team augmentation. The startup raised a $4 million seed round led by Harlem Capital and now hosts over 3,000 accounting professionals. Enterprise clients include Athena Club. Liu highlighted that the modern accountant must integrate AI tools, review AI outputs, and navigate AI-native ERPs—skills traditional accountants often lack.

MAVI aims to redefine finance teams by sourcing high-skill global talent capable of operating at the next level of automation and reasoning.
