Comp AI Raises $34M Series A for Agentic Security

Comp AI, a cybersecurity and compliance startup, announced a $34 million Series A round led by Roo Capital and Grand Ventures, bringing total funding to $37.5 million. Founded last January by Lewis Carhart (CEO), Claudio Fuentes (COO), and Mariano Fuentes (CTO), the trio previously built Leap AI, a workflow platform that grew to over a million users before shutting down due to a lack of a sticky use case. That experience taught them the tedium of SOC 2 compliance, inspiring Comp AI's agentic platform.

The platform uses AI agents to write security policies, collect audit evidence, and continuously monitor compliance controls. It also offers AI-powered penetration testing to proactively find vulnerabilities. Carhart emphasized that security and compliance are directly tied to revenue for software companies, as deals often hinge on SOC 2 reports. The software automates the grunt work but does not replace independent audits or human oversight; humans still review and approve agent-drafted policies.

As companies deploy more AI agents that access data and change permissions, traditional point-in-time audits become insufficient. Comp AI aims to build a continuous security layer that monitors and validates risks in real time, addressing the new wave of security challenges in the agentic era.
