In watchOS 27, Apple has removed the double-click Digital Crown gesture that previously switched between recent apps. This change, first spotted in the beta, replaces it with a new dynamic app grid that shows suggested apps on a single click. While the grid is useful, it doesn't offer the quick back-and-forth switching that many users relied on.

The removal is especially noticeable on the Apple Watch Ultra, which has an Action button but still lacks a dedicated app switcher. Users have been providing feedback since July, hoping Apple will restore the gesture in a future update like watchOS 27.1. For now, the feature remains absent, and the community is divided on whether the new grid is a worthy trade-off.
