Apple is opening a 600-capacity concert hall, Apple Music Hall, beneath its UK headquarters at Battersea Power Station in London. The venue, expected to open within weeks, features advanced audio-visual technology with "more cameras and speakers than any venue of its size, anywhere in the world," according to Apple Music VP Oliver Schusser. Designed for intimate shows and live broadcasts on Apple Music, the space includes a configurable 38-foot stage, specialized acoustics, and integrated studios for radio and podcasts.

The launch comes amid a crisis in the UK live music sector, with roughly 400 clubs closing nationally between 2020 and 2025, including 45 in London last year alone. Schusser insists Apple is not competing with independent venues, stating, "We're not trying to be in the live business... the sole purpose for us is to do great work with artists." Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy welcomed the investment as a "huge vote of confidence in the UK as a global creative powerhouse."

The facility marks Apple's return to London live events nine years after the iTunes Festival ended. The company aims to differentiate from rivals like Spotify and Amazon Music by fostering deeper artist-fan connections, addressing criticism from music executive Jimmy Iovine that streaming services have become one-dimensional "ATM machines."
