TV Time Shutting Down: What Users Need to Know

The popular show tracking service TV Time is officially shutting down on July 15. After more than a decade of helping fans manage watchlists and episode tracking, the company admitted it can no longer sustain operations as a free service. Management noted that there was insufficient consumer demand to transition the platform into a paid model.

Users face a hard deadline to save their viewing history before the service vanishes. The company plans to delete all personal user data following the shutdown, though it may keep aggregated, non-personal information for legal reasons. To avoid losing years of logged progress, people must use the app's GDPR self-service tool to export their data before the July cutoff.

As the shutdown approaches, the community is already migrating to competitors like Trakt and Serializd. Some users have flocked to Simkl, though reports indicate its servers are already struggling under the sudden influx of new sign-ups. Once the July 15 deadline passes, the app will disappear from both the App Store and Google Play.
