Instagram Adds Comment Edit Button

Instagram has begun rolling out an edit button for comments, allowing users to fix typos and mistakes within 15 minutes of posting. The feature appears beneath comments and works similarly to the platform's existing DM editing functionality introduced two years ago. Edited comments will display a gray "Edited" label beside the content.

Users returning to edit will see their keyboard reappear with a banner indicating they're editing their comment. A simple tap on the checkmark confirms the changes. Meta spokesperson Nicole Rechtszaid confirmed the feature is gradually becoming available, with testing reportedly occurring first on iPhones before expanding to Android devices.

The comment editing arrives as Instagram continues its push toward a Reels-first interface, following Adam Mosseri's announcement about potential feed changes. This quality-of-life update addresses common user frustrations about embarrassing typos in public replies, making the platform more approachable while maintaining transparency about edits.
