Meta is rolling out comment editing on Instagram, allowing users to modify their comments within a 15-minute window after posting. The feature mirrors the platform's existing DM editing capability, which launched in 2024, 11 years after Instagram introduced direct messaging in 2013. Users can only edit their own comments by tapping the "Edit" option beneath their posts.

Once in edit mode, a text box appears where users can tweak, rework, or embellish their comments before saving with the blue check mark. Meta confirms there's no limit to how many times a comment can be edited within that 15-minute timeframe. The change arrives as comments appear across multiple Instagram surfaces, including Stories, which gained comment functionality in 2024.

This update is part of a wave of recent changes to the platform. In March, Meta removed end-to-end encryption from Instagram DMs and began testing Instagram Plus, a subscription service offering exclusive Stories features. The comment editing rollout follows Meta's pattern of gradually introducing features that have long been standard on competing platforms.
