Budget MacBook Neo Shatters Sales Records

Apple shipped 1.1 million MacBook Neo units in its debut quarter, making it the best-selling Mac model despite launching just three weeks before quarter-end. The laptop's $599 price point sits 45% below the entry-level MacBook Air while featuring an aluminum chassis, 13-inch Liquid Retina display, and A18 Pro chip with 8GB RAM.

The MacBook Neo represents Apple's push into budget notebook segments where it previously held minimal market share. With 44% of shipments going to the U.S. and 18,000 units reaching India despite limited inventory, the device could potentially grow Apple's presence in the $400-$699 notebook market from about 2% to nearly 15%.

Competitors have already responded to the MacBook Neo's success. Dell unveiled a new XPS 13 starting at $699, directly targeting the same segment. IDC forecasts a "very big spike" in MacBook Neo shipments this quarter as Apple resolves supply constraints, positioning this launch as one of Apple's most strategically important Mac releases in recent memory.
