Pantaloon Playbill Subscription Service for Indie Games

Pantaloon has launched The Playbill, a new subscription service for indie games, focusing on 'bold and bizarre' titles. The service, similar to Xbox Game Pass, will feature third-party games like Buckshot Roulette, Silt, and Ex Sanguis, alongside Pantaloon's own releases such as Sub-Verge and Occlude. All of Pantaloon's own games will be available on day one, including the timed exclusive Virtue: Prologue.

The service also offers demos, playtests, and abandoned prototypes in a section called the Green Room. Pantaloon founder Jamin Smith stated that the Playbill aims to celebrate experimental and eccentric games, reducing the barrier to entry for players to explore genres not typically surfaced by Steam's algorithms. The service will not feature any games that use generative AI.

The Playbill is key-based, with games cycling out as keys run out. Annual subscribers can access all 13 initial games and new titles, while monthly subscribers get a guaranteed game each month, with access to all games after six consecutive months. The Primo subscription costs $5 per month or $60 per year.
