Apple Pulls Keynote, Pages, Numbers From App Store

Apple has temporarily removed Keynote, Pages, and Numbers from the App Store, just after releasing an update that added iPhone Duo support and a new Intelligent Assistant. It is not clear whether the apps were removed intentionally or whether the removal is a bug. Apple has not said when the apps will be reinstated, but if the removal was an error, they should return soon.

Update: The Mac versions of the apps are back without the new update. The iOS versions do not appear to have returned to the App Store yet.

Apple announced that apps optimized for the iPhone Duo can now be submitted for App Store approval, ahead of the foldable device's launch on Friday, October 23. Existing App Store apps will automatically run on the iPhone Duo, but only apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later can dynamically resize to fill the entire inner display, while unoptimized apps will have limited display support.

Separately, Apple expanded its App Store moderation rules to cover AI-generated nonconsensual intimate imagery. Sexually explicit content was already banned, but developers must now proactively prevent and remove AI-generated deepfakes from their platforms, or risk having apps removed. Apple also says more premium games are launching on the App Store this year than last, according to App Store Worldwide head Carson Oliver.
