Apple has introduced the Studio Display XDR, a more affordable alternative to the discontinued Pro Display XDR. Priced at $3,299, it offers similar functionality while being $1,700+ cheaper than its predecessor. The 27-inch 5K display is smaller than the 32-inch Pro Display XDR but fits better in multi-monitor setups while adopting a cleaner, plainer design.

The new display significantly outperforms the Pro Display XDR with 2,304 local dimming zones compared to just 576. It delivers brighter output, deeper blacks, better contrast, and improved HDR that matches Apple's mini-LED MacBook Pro. The Studio Display XDR also includes welcome additions like a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera, six-speaker audio system, and dual Thunderbolt 5 ports for daisy-chaining multiple displays.

For professionals needing premium display quality, the Studio Display XDR represents a compelling upgrade despite its premium price point. Casual users may find the standard Studio Display or third-party 4K options more suitable for everyday use, as this display clearly targets creative professionals requiring top-tier color accuracy and performance.
